How to Build Altered Wheelbase Cars (Performance How-To) by Steve Magnate

Let me get this out right now. Altered wheelbase cars are possibly the coolest cars ever built. Sure the point of moving the axle forward was for better weight distribution since the slicks of the day weren’t that sticky. And it worked. Of course it eventually led to the birth of the ‘funny’ car. But modern tire technology has made new slicks able to bite into even the slipperiest of surfaces. So why would you want to build a car that is completely out of date?

CAUSE IT’S AWESOME!!! Seriously take a look the pictures that Steve Magnate has complied in this book and tell me you don’t want to cruise in one right now! From the early Ramchargers to Brannan’s Mustang to all the home built creations, AWB(altered wheelbase) cars rule then and now. It’s amazing that by simply moving the wheelbase around it brings the car alive, like it’s about to pounce on some unsuspecting prey.

Steve Magnate covers everything you need to know to alter just about any make or model car into a killer AWB machine. From the history to the actual metalwork, everything is in this book. Want to know what type of axle you need in front? What are the correct tire/wheels? It’s in here. And it’s told in a simple, easy to understand way. I cannot recommend this book enough. Steve Magnate is my hero. I think I need a straight axle Fairmont.
